Getting Started

To install this theme you must have a working version of WordPress already installed. Below are all the useful links for WordPress information.

Make sure WordPress Is Up To Date!

All of our themes runs on the latest version of the wordpress. So be sure that you have installed the latest version of wordpress in your blog, otherwise update it before uploading our theme.

Uploading the “TheHouston theme” in outdated wordpress can cause several errors and problems , so it’s recommeneded to have a updated version of WordPress

Before installing the theme, please make sure you downloaded all the files after buying the license of our theme from mojomarketplace. Some of the folders names may slightly vary. Treat the screenshot below as an example only.

If you try installing wrong files, you will get a error message ” missing styles.css “. This is the most common error every newbie user of wordpress face. The best practice to check the correct wordpress-theme file is to explore/open each folder before uploading it to your WordPress installation.

Generally all the theme authors/developers name the theme with one word only. For example our theme name is evonne so our theme-file will be named as evonne.zip.

And this will be the main theme file which you have to install on your wordpress installation.

  • Within your WordPress Dashboard, navigate to Appearance > Themes .
  • Click the “ Add New ” button at the top-left of the page > Click the “ Upload Theme ” button at the top.
  • Click “ Choose File ” > find your zipped “janetine.zip” file > Click the “ Install Now ” button.

Once the theme is successfully installed on your WordPress, you can “ Activate ” it via the installation page or via Appearance > Themes to switch over and begin using your Janetine WordPress theme!

Please note: If you try installing the entire zipped theme package or another incorrect file, you’ll likely receive this error message:

The package could not be installed. The theme is missing the style.css stylesheet. Theme install failed.

If you receive this error message, please be sure that you’re installing the ZIPPED file titled “ evonne.zip “.

Quick Video Guide

After successful installation of the theme, you’ll need to install the required plugins for the theme as some of the features in our theme works only with the installation of the required plugins.

  • Navigate to Appearance > Install Plugins within your WordPress dashboard,
  • A page will appear which displays the list of plugins to be installed on your blog.
  • You can easily select and install the plugins from this section of the WordPress Dashboard.

Note: Be sure to install the plugins like Kirki, One Click Demo Import as this plugin is needed for the proper functioning of the theme.

What is Kirki?

Many users might have questions in their mind, while installing our themes why it is necessary to install the Kirki thing. Actually it is the plugin which allows you to customize your themes on go very easily.

P.S. : Do not try to upgrade the Kirki plugin, or you some of the features will not work in theme customizer.

Quick Video Guide –

With our One Click Demo Import you can easily choose any of the demo and import it to your blog withing the count of few minutes. But before proceeding, be sure that you have installed the One Click Demo Import plugin on your blog as it would be needed for this purpose.

Navigate to WordPress Dashboard > Appearance > Import Demo Data , and click on Import button.

Click on any of the demo displayed on the screen and click on the Import button. Wait a while as it may take a while to import all the contents, widgets and customizer settings.

You will get a success message on your screen after the importing has been successful.

TheHouston WordPress Theme supports 5 types of post format Standard , Gallery , Image , Audio and Video . You can choose any of the above formats for your blog posts.

  • To create a new post, navigate to WordPress Dashboard > Posts > Add New , there
  • A new window with post editor will open up.
  • Write your post’s title , content and add featured image in the respective fields.
  • After adding all the fields, hit the Publish button.

A standard, static page is similar to creating a post in many ways and is ideal for creating an About Me or Contact Me page in your blog/website.

To Create a Page using “TheHouston theme”,

  • Navigate to Page > Add New ,
  • A new window with post editor will open up.
  • Write your page title , content and add featured image in the respective fields.

Quick Video Guide –

Your homepage is the first page visitors will see when they arrive at your website. By default, the homepage will be the page that also displays all of your published posts, beginning with the most recent. We call this feature the “post feed”.

To customize look of your blog’s homepage, including its layout, colors, enabling/disabling the sidebar, etc.,

  • Navigate to Appearance > Customize , there
  • Open the Blog & Layout > Blog > Homepage Layouts .
  • You can also change the layout for your Archive, Category & Search , from this section, and after that
  • Save the changes.

Be sure to explore the various options within this Customizer section. The live preview on the right will show you a preview of how each adjustment will visually affect your site before you actively apply it.

Logo & favicon are the important part of a blog. Identity of your brand is reflected by it among your audiences. With a perfect logo you can be easily recognized, that’s because we have implemented the option for custom logo in our theme.

To add in your preferred logo image, navigate to WP Dashboard > Appearance > Customize > Title, Tagline & Site icon > Site Logo > and upload your desired logo image here.

Social media are the essentials parts of the online business, as it exposes your content to a large community in short time. So we have integrated our theme with the social media which you easily add to your blog with very simple steps.

  • To upload your logo navigate to Appearance > Customize in your blog’s dashboard,
  • In customizer panel navigate to Miscellaneous > Top Social Icons , there
  • Add your social media links in the respective fileds, and
  • Save the changes

Evonne has many layouts for the featured slider. This can be easily customized & setup via customizer options panel.

To customize the Featured Slider:

  • Navigate to Appearance > Customize , there
  • Open the Blog & Layout > Home – Slider , there

Be sure you have explored all the options within this Customizer section. The live preview on the right will show you a preview of how each adjustment will visually affect your site before you actively apply it.

Off canvas menu/Mobile Menu is a menu which is hidden beside the main web page or web canvas. It appears when you trigger some element on your website/blog.

For this you will need to navigate to Appearance > Customize , there go to Header > Side Menu and click on the toggle button there.


A sidebar is a vertical content area that displays to the right of your main content/post area. You customize your sidebar by stacking up different widgets that display a variety of things.


  • To add, remove, or edit your sidebar widgets, navigate to WP Dashboard > Appearance > Widgets .
  • On the left, you will see a list of the available widgets to choose from.
  • On the right, you will see the 2 widget areas in the theme.
    1. Blog Sidebar
    2. Instagram Gallery – Footer (This appears in footer area.)

To add a widget to your sidebar, simply drag & drop a widget on the left into the widget area titled “ Sidebar “.


The footer area is the lower portion of the theme that will appear on all pages of your site. It can include:

  • Recommended Posts Section
  • Instagram footer area
  • Social icon area
  • Copyright text area


This section shows the list of recommeneded posts which randomly display them. To edit this section navigate to Appearance > Customize > Blog & layouts , then go to Recommended Posts and you will see a option panel like below given image.


Similar to the section above regarding “Setting up your Sidebar”, the footer has a widget area titled “ Instagram Footer ” where you can add in a widget to display your Instagram images in a full-width section. The widget is simply called “ Instagram ” and is made available after installing & activating the plugin called WP Instagram Widget .

To add the Instagram widget, navigate to WP Dashboard > Appearance > Widgets . On the right, you’ll see the theme’s different widget areas. One of which is the widget area titled “ Instagram Footer “.


At the very bottom of the theme is a bar which features a text area to include copyright or disclaimer text. You are not required to include a copyright or disclaimer statement. In fact, you can type whatever you’d like in this area!

To edit the footer text area, look within
WP Dashboard > Appearance > Customize > Footer
